Welcome to Ron Fleming Writes!

Credentials

Ron Fleming is a writer who specializes in technical, academic, legal, and other forms of expository writing. He is also capable of adapting his style and voice to other forms and purposes. He has a keen eye for proofreading and editing–especially when the material matches his writing strengths. While he is not formally trained in English literature or copywriting, he put considerable effort into sharpening his skills in both undergraduate and graduate school, where his coursework involved lengthy treatments of a variety of topics in the social sciences. After finishing graduate school, Ron became active in a blogging community that had professional writers, editors, and authors among its members, some of whom have recruited Ron for research, writing, and editing tasks.

If you are here to see Ron’s resume, writing samples, or other professional credentials–including his Amazon.com portfolio–please use the navigation menu at the top of the page. This menu is present throughout the site, so it should be easy to navigate from one area to another.

Announcements

There are no major announcements for the site at the moment. As far as my personal and professional life is concerned, however, I am happy to report that I have been signed onto a long-term engagement with an exciting project associated with international industrial supplier Grainger.

Frankly, I don’t know if I’m permitted to say much more about it than that. But in due course, I will update the site with whatever additional specifics I am allowed to share.

The learning curve for this new assignment is steep, and I have been working hard to wrap my head around the new information while attempting to be productive at the same time. Ramping up has been a bit slow for my taste. I prefer a much shorter “clueless” phase. But about a month in, things are clearing up and I’m beginning to find the generation of a tangible work product less daunting than it was at the very beginning.

I will pop in for updates to the site as time permits. We’re not dead yet!

A favorite scene of mine from The Jerk, this is how I felt once I was officially “on the map.”
Jessica Reuling

Jessica Reuling, Program Manager at Amazon.com, BISS

ts-awesome-quote-leftRon was a contract writer for my team at Amazon for several years. He's a hardworking writer who asks smart questions and offers creative solutions. His range of expertise makes him an asset on any team. I greatly appreciated Ron's willingness to dive into new challenges that sometimes took him outside the scope of the role for which we'd engaged him--like developing macros to help increase productivity. It is rare to find a freelancer with such a great "team" attitude. It has been a delight to work with Ron.ts-awesome-quote-right

Shelby Sheehan-Bernard

Shelby Sheehan-Bernard, writer and editor specializing in technical content.

ts-awesome-quote-leftRon is everything an editor and project manager wants in a freelancer: excellent response time, ability to meet any deadline, and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team. I have edited Ron's work for nearly two years, and he consistently turns in flawless copy that is both well-researched and clear. His contributions to Amazon's Business, Industrial & Scientific categories are extensive. Whether it's providing macro to scale content production or creating a helpful SEO-optimized product description, his work is always top notch.ts-awesome-quote-right

Maria Isabel Roldos, Doctor in Public Health

ts-awesome-quote-leftRon is detail oriented. He helped me with scientific and academic manuscripts I submitted to academic journals in the field of public health and economic evaluation. I worked with Ron for several months revising two highly technical manuscripts. His support in technical writing and his overall editing was superb, and it contributed toward having these manuscripts published in a very technical field. I was lucky to find Ron among the vast number of people who provide editing services. He was patient, kind, respectful, and overall, an outstanding professional.ts-awesome-quote-right
